FII Healthy Longevity Compass
The world is experiencing a demographic shift towards an older population, with global life expectancy reaching 73 years in 2023 and projected to rise to 77 years by 2050. Despite this, longer lifespans often come with more years spent in poor health and raise concerns about healthcare costs, labor force participation, and the sustainability of social safety nets. Fighting for healthy longevity—improved length and quality of life—could unlock health and economic benefits on a global scale.
The Global Healthy Aging Survey (GHAS) reached out to just under ~60% of the representative population of the world to understand the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of older adults. Additionally, the Future of Wellness survey collected insights from more than 5,000 consumers to better understand wellness trends globally. Conducted by McKinsey Health Institute and McKinsey's Consumer Packaged Goods Practice, these survey findings are provided in the insights report, and an interactive web-tool, FII Healthy Longevity Compass Navigator.
The promise of longevity for human health and prosperity, the insights report published by FII Institute and McKinsey Health Institute, highlights findings and explores strategic levers in science, healthcare, and social determinants that can help unlock the potential found in our research.
